2005 Mercedes-Benz B-Class advert

The advert starts of with the importance of a women and a man saying 'we thought about women' showing them to have more purpose in the world. As apposed to a women being represented previously as subordinate to men and as housewives, there is a women featured in this advert whos is wearing a suit and holding a briefcase, a business women. There is an equal number of men and women in the advert showing equality between the two.

Lynx Advert in 2000

This shows female dominance as the guy is wanting the females to be all over him yet they are being objectified and seen as sex objects by wearing outfits that show of most of their body.Their roles switch throughout the advert showing a balance of male and female power within society, however the advert is dominated by female characters and there is only one man.

Barclay card Advert

This advert from the beginning to end is objectifying women as they are all in their bikinis and showing of alot of bare flesh, they are put their for the male gaze (Mulvey) to entice barclays consumers to buy their service. They use these images of women to do that. This is part of the male backlash which exsited throughout the 80's as a way of objectifying women to reclaim their masculinity and power that they had began to lose during previous years.

McDonalds TV Advert

This portrays a patriarchal society as there are no women shown in this advert at all.McDonalds is a highly successful business so this would have been a way of representing femalse and showing of males patriarchal society and the fact that they wanted to show that women had no time for success and business

Brylcream advert

In this advert the women are seen to have control over the men as the women make the men want to buy brylcream so that they are attractive enough and they want to impress the women so that they are all over them

13. Micheal Lyons

Sir Michael Lyons was born in 1950, he is 57 yrs old


He's a former Labour councillor and council chief executive, who has also been involved in some of the key central government commissions and reports into local government finance from 2000 to 2007.


Lyons was knighted in January 2000 in recognition of his services to Local Government.

On 1 May 2007, Lyons became Chairman of the BBC Trust
